Are you ready for some football?!

If you ask my friends or family, they'll tell you that football is one of my favorite sports. With the Super Bowl coming up in about a month (February 7th to be exact!), it is time to start planning for that upcoming party! There is a ton of fun ideas that you can find for a super bowl-themed party, along with amazing decor!

Possible theme ideas:
  • You "Pick 'em" Potluck -- I know times are tough right now, so why not ask your friends to provide some of the food? This way, you'll have an abundance of food without breaking the bank. To make sure you don't have duplicate dishes, ask friends to bring certain dishes that are Super Bowl party friendly! (See below for great web sites to get some deeelish recipes from)
  • "Chili Kick-off" -- With all the competition surrounding the game, and possibly those playoff pools, why not add a little more into the mix? Ask your guests to bring a crock-pot of their own chili recipe and have a taste-off. To make sure it's a fair fight by buying a variety of football-themed bowls and place them on a "football field" look-alike table cloth - with the bowls on each yard line - then have your guests answer which dish was their favorite. Make sure you have a prize on hand! (Check out this amazing idea by Hostess with the Mostess)
  • Dress as your favorite player -- As a Minnesota Vikings fan, I haven't had the luxury of seeing my favorite team in the Super Bowl, but I still love them. My guess is there are some other fans out there who feel the same about their teams. So when sending out your invites, tell all your guests to dress as their favorite players - not only will this allow your guests one last time to wear their favorite team jerseys and other apparel, but it'll be a great photo-op and great conversation starter for those guests who don't know each other very well!
Remember, that a Super Bowl party isn't ideally a sit-down dinner affair, so finger foods such as chicken wings, chips and dips, one-bowl soups (chili, potato soup, etc.), sandwiches, burgers and, fruits and veggies are great ideas. There are a ton of web sites that feature great recipes for Super Bowl parties - a few I like are CooksRecipes.com, Food Network, AllRecipes.com, and EatingWell.com.

There are a bunch of great sites out there that sell Super Bowl party decor. For some inexpensive but great tableware, favors and other decor check out Plum Party - a few of which are shown in my inspiration board above. Another great site is GameDayParties.com. The Hostess with the Mostess site mentioned above has some other great ideas for party decor.

I hope this has inspired you to "tackle" your planning for the upcoming big game! Happy planning!
