Real Party: A Thing for Bling Bridal Shower

I always love a unique theme for parties, which is why I loved this "A Thing for Bling" bridal shower that I spotted over on Catch My Party designed by Natasha at Fete Fanatic.  This theme would be perfect for any bride-to-be who loves anything and everything sparkly.  The various props and desserts used for this party were perfect to match with the theme - I just loved the ring pops, pop rocks, fake diamond rings, etc.  The color scheme was great, too - bright fuchsia pink, black and white.

I really love the little details that pulled this party together, Natasha did a fabulous job!  One of my favorite details - the candyabra (the candelabra made of rock candy!)... so fun!  Head over to the Catch My Party party page to check out  more photos from this blingin' bridal shower!

Real Party: Pretty in Pink Bridal Shower

I thought I would do something a little different for today's edition of Wedding Wednesday and feature another aspect of the wedding process - the bridal shower!  Bridal showers are such a great way for the bride-to-be's closest friends and relatives to be able to spend time with the bride prior to her big day!  It's also a great way for the bride to be able to relieve some of the stresses from the planning of her big day, as this day she can sit back and enjoy the day that's being held just for her.

Today's feature comes from the super awesome wedding site Green Wedding Shoes.  The shower was thrown for Leila of Be Inspired PR by some of her bridesmaids, and it turned out gorgeous!

I'm loving all the little details that were thought of for this party.  The scent bar is so unique, definitely not a favor you see around most parties!  The dainty and girly dessert buffet went absolutely perfect to correlate with the rest of the event, as did the simplistic flowers and minimal decor - very chic.

Head over to Green Wedding Shoes to view more photos and read more details about this very awesome bridal shower.  Green Wedding Shoes has a ton of great wedding inspiration for any bride to be... or like myself, anyone looking to get their foot into the wedding and events industry - consider yourself to have great self control if you only spend a few minutes poking around... you could definitely make a day of it! :)

Real Party: Pink and Tiffany Blue Bridal Shower

Don't you just love a gorgeous bridal shower?  How about a gorgeous bridal shower with a great color scheme and pretty flowers?!  That's what I thought when I came across this bridal shower featured on the Wedding Paper Divas blog.  This party was thrown for the bride-to-be by one of her bridesmaids.  The color scheme, different shades of pink with Tiffany blue accents... in addition to some rhinestones and and crystal used throughout to add some flair.  The menu was simple - coffee and desserts, which are favorites of the bride.

I am loving this flower arrangement - so pretty!  The light and darker pinks are very eye-catching!
Doesn't this dessert table look amazing?!

Such a beautiful color combination!  The Tiffany blue and the variety of pinks are so classy together!
beautiful centerpieces!

I always love the idea of leaving "words of wisdom" for the guest of honor - it's a great keepsake!

Such a gorgeous color combination!  This color scheme would be great for a baby shower for a girl (or even twins - one girl, one boy).  It would also be great for a girls night in or an adult woman's birthday party (I think the younger girls and teens prefer the brighter colors!)

Bridal Shower DIY: Towel Cake

A few weeks ago I attended the bridal shower for my best friend from high school, whose wedding I'm in tomorrow, actually!  Because she had a smaller registry, I wanted to get her something different than just the ordinary toaster, blender and cookie sheets (besides, those aren't as fun to buy anyway!).  I wracked my brain for ideas (along with the internet) and came up with what I was going to do - make her a towel cake.  After figuring out the colors of her bathroom (she told me it was Pittsburgh Steelers colors - which if you aren't a fan of Football, they're black and yellow... which is one of my favorite color combos!). I set out to buy the necessary items - bath towels, hand towels, wash cloths and ribbon.  I added in some coasters with the initial of her soon-to-be last name, some linen spray in different scents and some room freshener.

Finished towel cake including accessories

Towel cakes are super easy to make!  I totally didn't think to take step-by-step pictures, so hopefully my instructions are understandable (if not, there's some videos online to check out!)

What you'll need:

- 2 bath towels
- 2 hand towels
- 2 wash cloths
- safety pins
- ribbon that coordinates with your color scheme

How to create each layer:
Largest layer:
1. Fold each bath towel in thirds.  Then fold in half.
2. Connect end of one towel to end of the other towel, use safety pin to keep two connected.
3. Starting at one end, carefully roll the towel as tightly as possible, making sure the top and bottom are level.
4. Now you can either: a) safety pin towel together and tie ribbon around towel roll   or   b) simply tie ribbon around towel roll sans safety pin.

Middle and top layers:
1. Fold each hand and bath towel in half.  Then fold in half again.
2. Repeat steps 2-4 above.

Once the layers are complete, accessories with any extras you'd like!

Have you ever made a towel cake?  Looking to make one?  Stop by and show it off... I'd love to see how it turned out!

Coco Chanel Inspired Bridal Shower

I saw this bridal shower inspired by Coco Chanel on the Dooby Designs blog a couple of weeks back and was seriously dreaming about it!  The way everything was so put together, the colors, the elegance and classic-ness and sophistication - oh my, I was in heaven (I am all over again looking at it tonight!).

Here is the inspiration board she created after being approached for the event by event planner Anna Lucia Richardson of LUCIA|PAUL DESIGN:

And here are the actual photos from the event:

How awesome do these personalized chocolate candy wrapper bars look?

I love the look of these black boxes filled with pink candies wrapped with pink ribbon setting atop white pearls!
